Marie C. Steighner Bartley, age 90, of Butler, passed away Friday at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.  Marie will be remembered as a gentle soul, strong woman of faith and sadly missed by her family.

She was born in Butler Pa., on April 21, 1928, a daughter of the late Felix and Frances Kramer Steighner.

Marie attended Butler Area High School and graduated as one of the top students in her class. She also marched with the Catholic Daughters of America Drum and Bugle Corps along with her twin sister in the Color Guard section and passed the love of the corps to her daughters.

Marie was a faithful member of Saint Peter Roman Catholic Church and a 50 year member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court 443 where she held various offices throughout her membership.  Marie enjoyed roller skating, card club with friends, bingo, volunteering at South Butler Fire Department fish dinners, watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and loved solving word searches.  Marie was also well known for her baking skills and especially her chocolate chip cookies.

Marie worked at Montgomery Ward, Universal Motors, Union Trust Bank, Pittsburgh National Bank, Butler Catholic School Cafeteria, and was a bookkeeper for many years.

Marie was married to John P. Bartley for 68 wonderful years.  She is survived by six children, Anna Mae Rock and her husband, Steve, of Butler, Paul Bartley and his wife, Kathy, of Valencia, Deborah Ferriero and her husband, Joseph, of Export, PA, Larry Bartley and his wife, Lorie, of East Butler, Eileen Moore and her husband, Troy of Woodbridge, VA., and David Bartley and his wife, Barb, of Irwin, PA.

Marie was also the proud grandma of 14 grandchildren, Jeremy Rock, Michael Rock and his wife, Brandi, Julie Collins and her husband, Matt, Jeffrey Bartley and his wife, Angela, Lisa Linamen and her husband, Adam, Brian Bartley and his wife, Krista, Joey Ferriero and his fiancé, Elizabeth Ungerman, Danny Ferriero, Nathan Bartley and his wife, Kristina, Matthew Bartley and his wife, Shelby, Melissa Bartley, Mikayla Moore, Marlee Moore, and Jenna Bartley. Marie was also blessed by 15 great-grandchildren, Kaden Rock, Maddy Rock, Julius Collins, Ryan Collins, Ike Collins, Brady Linamen, Bella Linamen, Kaylee Bartley, Travis Bartley, Paxton Bartley, Julia Dupe, Quinn Bartley, Cameran Bartley, Zivah Bartley and Danica Bartley.

Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John P. Bartley; one grandson, Joshua Paul Bartley; one great-granddaughter, Emily Marie Linamen; her dear twin sister, Mildred E. "Millie" Buzas; and a brother, Charles Steighner.

Marie's advice to all, "Enjoy life, it is later than you think. Be good to your mother and dad. Always say your prayers and go to Mass. God will bless and take care of you". As our guardian angel, Marie's sincerest wish for our tomorrow is happiness.

Friends of Marie C. Steighner Bartley, who died Friday, August 24, 2018, will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Avenue, Butler, on Sunday from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. from Saint Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin Street, Butler.

Burial will take place in Saint Peter's Cemetery.

The Women's Council of Saint Peter Roman Catholic Church will meet at the church at 9:35 a.m. Monday to recite the rosary.
