Obituary

Delma L. Mellinger, age 104, of Butler, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born February 13, 1912 on her family's farm in West Middlesex, Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Carrie Huff Ediburn and Harry Ediburn.

She was a 1932 graduate of the Butler County Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. During her career, Delma was employed as a Registered Nurse at Butler Memorial Hospital, Saint Paul's School, Butler Catholic School, and the Visiting Nurses Association.

She was a member of Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, and she belonged to the Butler Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumni Association, the Secular Franciscan Fraternity, and the Saint Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers.

Delma met her late husband, George P. Mellinger, Sr.at Conneaut Lake Park. The couple married in 1936 and lived a loving and blessed life until George's death in 1964.

Delma always enjoyed gardening, baking, animals, and – above all – family dinners and caring for her grandchildren. She was devout in her faith, active in her church, kind and gentle, and always willing to help anyone. She was a joy to all who knew her.

She is survived by one son, George P. Mellinger, Jr., of Boynton Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Dhana LeFevre and her husband, Philip, of Butler, Nichole Cox and her husband, Jeremiah, of Dearborn, MI, and Darin Mellinger and his wife, Michele, of Delray Beach, FL; and three great-grandchildren, Chloe Mellinger and Michael Edward LeFevre, of Butler, and Haley Cox, of Michigan.

In addition to her husband, Delma was preceded in death by a son, Edward H. Mellinger, who passed away in 2004; four brothers; and one sister.
