Obituary

Charity A. Mariotti, age 74, of Butler, lost her short, but courageous battle with cancer on Feb. 11, 2024.  She passed away in the comfort of her home with family by her side.

Born in Butler on Sept. 29, 1949, she was a daughter of the late James and Alice Bole McCommons.

She was a devout Christian and found strength in her faith.  She was an animal lover, especially cats, having raised and even rescued several over her life.  She was a homemaker, a seamstress, a baker, and above all, a grandmother.

Charity is survived by her husband, Joseph Anthony Mariotti, one son, Jay Mariotti and his wife, Shelly, of Butler; two granddaughters, Gianna Lynn and Angelica Jaymes; three brothers, Paul McCommons and his wife, Susan, of Latrobe, Pa., Robert McCommons and his wife, Dagmar, of Stafford, Va., and William McCommons and his wife, Debbie, of McConnellsburg, Va.; three sisters, Margaret Campbell, of Newport News, Va., Janet Ferguson, of Mercer, Pa., and Kay Schaffer and her husband, Larry, of Michigan; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Harry McCommons.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to an Animal Rescue Center of one's own choosing.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler.
