Obituary

Alec Prenovitz, 78, of Chicora, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025, in Butler Memorial Hospital with his loving family at his side.

Born Sept. 1, 1947, in Butler, he was a son of the late Alexander Prenovitz and Mary Chernick Prenovitz.

Alec worked as a maintenance supervisor at Armco and retired with 42 years of service.

He was a member of St. Andrew Orthodox Church, Lyndora.

In his younger years "Big Al" played football, baseball and coached midget football. Over the years Al enjoyed hunting, fishing trips to Canada with friends, working on cars, gardening, raising chickens and cows, woodworking, remodeling projects, and making homemade sausage.  He also loved hosting his annual pig roast parties, LOUD country music, and he cherished his Friday fish fries in the kitchen with his grandkids.

In his later years Al enjoyed his crossword puzzles, scratch-off lottery tickets, watching Family Feud, and making pierogies at the church in addition to reminiscing about his old football days. His wit and humor will be missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Antonia Lee "Toni Lee" Beatrice Prenovitz, whom he married March 31, 1967; three children, Damon Prenovitz and his wife, Sharon, of Baltimore, Md., Brian Prenovitz, of Greensburg, Pa., and Gina McClaine and her husband, Kevin, of Chicora; seven grandchildren, Michal, Elena, Matthew, and Aleczandria Prenovitz and Bekk, Liam, and Emmet McClaine; one sister, Susan Russo, of Butler; and a number of nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Prenovitz; and one sister, Nancy Gnade.
