Ross Martin already had 27 years’ experience in funeral service when he opened the doors to his funeral home on October 1, 1982.
It was a dream come true for this lifelong resident of Butler to serve his community through his own business.
A graduate of Butler High School and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, Ross Martin received his Pennsylvania Funeral Director’s License in 1955.
The knowledge and skills he gained as a professional funeral director over the next two-and-a-half decades served him well when he and his wife, Eileen Byrne Martin, decided to open their own funeral home.
The Martins purchased their business from S. Albert Foschi when Mr. Foschi and his wife, Pearl, retired.
The Martins’ son, Tom Martin, graduated from Butler High School in 1981 and from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1986.
Tom received his Funeral Director’s License in 1988. He works with his parents in the funeral home.
Ross and Eileen Martin have five other children.
They all assist in the operation of the business.
It is a point of pride that every telephone call to the Martin Funeral Home is answered by a member of the Martin family, and that all funerals and funeral arrangements are personally handled by either Ross or Tom Martin.
